Obituary for Alastair "Scotty" Robertson

Alastair (Scotty) MacLean Robertson of Jarvis, Ontario passed away August 7, 2021 in his 83rd year. Born in the UK, to Anna and Adam Robertson, he immigrated to Canada in 1968. Scotty leaves behind his wife, Beverley of 42 years and his three children: Anne Marie (Dan) Grantham, James (Teresa) Robertson, and Andrew (Josie) Robertson and three step-children: Chantelle McCann, Phoebe (Peter) Hern, Christopher McCann and daughter-in-law: Carole Wright-McCann. Scotty adored his 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Norman Robertson, Scotland, UK, and sister Rosemary (Iain) Mowat of Carephilly, Wales, along with respective nephews and nieces. Alastair was an active member of the Jarvis Lions Club, P.G.S. of King Solomon Lodge #329 A.F. & A.M. (Jarvis) and the Long Point Bay Yacht Club. He also enjoyed volunteering with Senior Support Services of Haldimand-Norfolk, and the Canadian Cancer Society, and a fine glass of scotch! A graduate of Glasgow University, Alastair worked in the Agriculture Industry for the United Co-operatives of Ontario, BASF, and May & Baker Canada, before establishing his own company. Alastair was a proud Canadian with deep Scottish roots. He always spoke of how grateful he was to have been welcomed and accepted by Canada. One of his proudest accomplishments and greatest loves was the creation of Cumbrae Farms (Jarvis) and Cumbrae Butcher Shops (Toronto and Dundas, Ontario). Scotty will be missed by many and forgotten by none. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lions Foundation of Canada (Dog Guides), The Masonic Foundation of Ontario or Wesley United Church, Jarvis. The funeral service for Scotty will be held at Jarvis Community Church, 19 Church Street, Jarvis on Saturday, August 14 at 11 am. (Masks and physical distancing are required at all times. Seating is limited. Those wishing to attend must RSVP at www.cooperfuneralhome.ca. In order to facilitate appropriate food preparation, please RSVP for the reception as well.)
