Dorothy  Lettinga (DeBree)
Dorothy (Dieuwertje) Lettinga (nee DeBree) passed away in West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in her 93rd year. Dorothy was born in Broek op Langedijk, North Holland in 1929, immigrated to Canada in 1951 along with her family, and married Herbert Lettinga in Edmonton in 1952. Together they lived in Edmonton, AB, Penticton, BC and in the Beachville area before moving to Parkview Meadows in Townsend. Herb passed away in 2020 after 68 years of marriage.
Dorothy loved children, fostering over 20 babies and also delighting in her own son and daughters. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing games with friends. Her neighbours and friends at Triple C Camp, Valleyview and Southview were delights in her later years.
It is with a mixture of sorrow and gratitude that she is remembered by her children Neil (Virginia), Deb (Jeff) and Ruth (Stephen), her grandchildren Case, Bethany, Jon (Leanna), Laura (Darryl), Lydia and Kenneth, as well as by her great-grandchildren Joshua, Thalia, Leia, and Nathan, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and grands. Dorothy will be missed by her sisters Grace, Tina, Nellie, Emmy and her brother Neil. Predeceased by her brothers Bertus, Harry, and Jan Dirk and her sister Sandra.
Friends are invited to call at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 10 am – 11:30 am. The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, 139 Talbot Street East, Jarvis on Friday, November 26 at 1 pm. (Masks and physical distancing are required at all times when on the funeral home or church premises.) Interment Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Jarvis. The funeral service will be live-streamed on the Ebenezer CRC YouTube channel (link available on the Book of Memories website for Dorothy). Donations to the Canadian Bible Society would be appreciated by the family. Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.cooperfuneralhome.ca.
