Siple-Hoover, Eleanor Marguerite

Peacefully at Dover Cliffs Long Term Care, Port Dover, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Eleanor was the wife of the late Stanley George Hoover (1971). Loving mother of Gayle (Rolly Cassidy) Hare of Port Dover, Deb (Rick) Sasseville of Port Dover and Millard Hoover of Kingston. Dear grandmother of Brook, Brent and Angela Hare, Ashley (Markus) Brinkmann, Dayna (Aaron) Marks, Melanie Hoover, and the late Tim Hoover. Great grandmother of 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Michael, Harry, Gerald and her sister Lillian Siple. Eleanor was a long-standing member of the Selkirk Baptist Church, ministering as a Sunday School teacher, camp leader and choir member. All who knew her will miss her gentle, graceful nature and her easy laugh. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Dover Cliffs for the exceptional care that they provided to Ellie over the past number of years. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to COOPER FUNERAL HOME, Jarvis (519-587-4414). Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at

An angel lived among us
A gift from God above.
She showered us with kindness
And shared with us her love.

Until we meet again, Mom. ❤

Fond memories of an elegant lady visiting the bank where I worked in Port Dover would be an understatement ! Eleanor was a real joy to chat with and laugh with so I easily could call her one of the perks of many days ! Whether we mentioned Port Dover news, her daughter Gayle & her music or Debbie & her love for Betty Boop or anything at all, we managed to make both our days better. Eleanor you will be missed on earth but I know enjoyed in heaven ! Until you meet with your family again, Rest In Peace & don’t forget to leave the gate open ! Sincerely, Carleen Rushton

Dear Friends,
Gayle, Debbie and Millard, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. She was truly a lovely lady. I always remember her gentle, soft-spoken manner and of course her quick smile!! I remember a book of Bible stories that came from the Sunday School superintendent at Christmas! Best gift ever!! Praying that the sweet memories, God's love and peace would carry through the days ahead.
My Deepest Sympathies,
Brenda and Dave Kish

To my dear cousins Gayle, Debbie and Millard, I was so sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. I remember Aunt Eleanor as a wonderful and patient person. I hope the love and care you so devotedly gave your mom, especially during her years in the nursing home bring you feelings of comfort, and moments of peace. May happy memories help you through this difficult time.
With deepest sympathies, Lorne Siple
