Obituary for Freerkje "Fre" Miedema

Fre Miedema passed away peacefully at Gardenview LTC, Townsend on Friday, October 8, 2021 in her 97th year. Loving wife of Luit Miedema† (2002). Fre and Luit married in 1943 and immigrated to Canada in 1950. 5 years later they began their butchering business, L. Miedema and Sons in Villa Nova. Together, they raised 11 children. Dear mother of Ankie† (2015) and Jack Bootsma, Ann Racher, Doug and Sue Miedema, George† (1983) and Joyce (Joe Wassink), Dave and Trudy Miedema, Ettie and Ed Wybenga, Leo and Ann Miedema, Johnny and Audrey Miedema, Mary and Ralph VanBenthem, Jenny (Brian Veldhuis† 2010) and Raymond DeVries and Lloyd Miedema. Beloved Beppe of 53 grandchildren, 97 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Survived by her brother Harm Haagsma and sisters-in-law Janny Haagsma and Tina Miedema. Predeceased by her parents Gauke and Ankje Haagsma, her grandson Jesse Racher and her siblings Jan, Anton, Jitza, Etjie and Anna. Friends are invited call at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church 139 Talbot Street East, Jarvis on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 6-8 pm. (Masks and physical distancing are always required when in the church). The funeral service for Fre will be held at Ebenezer C.R.C. on Wednesday, October 13 at 1 pm. (Due to gathering size restrictions, those wishing to attend must RSVP through the COOPER FUNERAL HOME website. Masks and physical distancing are always required when inside the church.) Interment Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Jarvis. If desired, donations to Jarvis Community Christian School or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
