Obituary

Goddard, Garth Robert Steel.
Nov. 21, 1943 - Nov. 11, 2020
Garth died at The West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville on Remembrance Day, from NON - COVID-19 causes. He was husband of Patricia (nee Peacock) for 57 years and dad (and grandfather) of Robert (2000), Ronald Allan, Rodney and his wife Sheri (Naiomi and Cameron) and Raymond (Hailey). He is also survived by his sisters Margaret (Ed) Cantrell and Sheila (Larry) Bartlett. Garth worked hard all his life and we were proud of him. He worked hard for various companies and owned two businesses. Our family and others will miss him. He was a good man and had lots of love to give. 'I loved him all my life'--wife Pat. We, the family would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Q. Yar and all the nursing staff on the 3rd Floor for the care shown to Garth throughout his illness. A private family visitation and funeral will be held at Cooper Funeral Home, Jarvis with the interment to follow at Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery. If desired donations in memory of Garth to The Salvation Army or War Amps of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.cooperfuneralhome.ca

Garth worked alongside of me at the Simcoe Gospel Chapel. He was our caretaker for a number of years and did the job well. He was a loving caring guy. A happy smile a friendly word was just a part of who he was. I am praying for Pat and all the family. May you know the Lord's comfort and care at this time.

I always knew Garth as Mr Goddard who was the friendliest guy in town. His son Rodney was a friend of my son Troy (Scarr) many years ago even coming to grandmas’ house in Port Elgin for holidays to fish & enjoy the beach. A great guy like his dad always cheerful but not saying ‘how bout that’ like his dad ! I always walked away with a 😊 smile . He made my day ! My deepest condolensces to his wife and family at this sad time. May it help you to know that there are many friends he left his cheerful mark on. Rest In Peace Mr Goddard. Sincerely, Carleen Rushton

I'm sad to hear the news that Garth has passed. He was a great cousin and boss always taking time to explain how some part of the business worked or hauling the stations guard dog Cora away when it looked like I was going to lose an arm or leg.

Even at work he made time for the boys while keeping the place running.

Pat, on behalf of my family and myself I wish to offer our condolences on the loss of a wonderful guy.
