Obituary for Harvey Ross Bassindale
Passed away March 13, 2021 at Anson Place, Hagersville in his 98th year. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Cox) for 74 years. Father of Glen (Margaret), Gayle (the late William), Donald (Kimber Jo) and remembered fondly by 7 grandchildren, 3 great and 5 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters Hilda (George), Violet (Howard) and brothers Russell (Beatrice) and George (Josephine). Remembered by brothers-in-law Decker (Barb), Kenneth (Connie) and sister-in-law Marilyn (Tony) and many nieces and nephews.
As well as being a dairy farmer, Harvey was a licensed lay reader for the Anglican - Niagara Diocese for 27 years. He was the Past President of Haldimand Diocese Anglican Laymen. Harvey sat on Municipal Council for the Township and Haldimand County, was Past President of Wabisa Insurance Company and Past President of the Wentworth-Niagara Guernsey Breeders Association. He left the farm in 1980 after being appointed as Sheriff and Local Registrar of Supreme-District-Surrogate Small Claims Court and Judicial District of Haldimand and a Notary Public.
Friends are invited to call at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 6-8 pm. The graveside service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery, Cheapside on Wednesday, March 17 at 11 am. (Those wishing to attend must RSVP through the funeral home website).
