Peacefully at Parkview Meadows, Southview, on Sunday, May 23,2021. Hugh Mitchell, husband of the late Mary Eileen (nee Fess) (2015), formerly of Hagersville, in his 91st year. Loving father of David, Mike and Sharon, Susan and Phil Sidenberg, Scott, the late Dan (2007) and Julie (Mark) Vanni. Grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Cameron (1980) and Ruth (Hambly) (1996), his brother Eugene Mitchell (2016) and his sister Madeline Danis (2006). Hugh was the founder of Mitchell’s Pumping and Septic Service in 1970. He was active in both the Haldimand and Norfolk Plowmen’s Association. Hugh was also active at Balmoral United Church, holding many positions over the years. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a private family visitation held at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, Jarvis. A funeral service for Hugh will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11 am. Interment Balmoral United Church Cemetery. Both the service at the funeral home and at the cemetery are closed to in-person attendance, but will be livestreamed on the funeral home website and funeral home Facebook page. Donations to Balmoral United Church, Parkview Meadows or the Haldimand Plowmen’s Association would be appreciated by the family.
