July 25, 1935 - July 21, 2021
God called home His beloved child John, peacefully from Transitional Care, Hagersville on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in his 86th year. Beloved husband for 62 years of Alida (Ellen) (nee Hofland). Loving father of Fred and Sylvia, Ben and Karen, John and Bev, Tim and Kathy, Bev and Gerald, Wayne and Kasey and Cheryl and Robert . Loving grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He leaves behind to mourn six sisters, one brother and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. John was predeceased by his parents Fedde and Rika Zandstra, his parents in-law Ben and Elisabeth Hofland, one brother Bill, two brothers-in-law and grandsons Gregory and Jordan. John became a mechanic, but his dream was to own a farm and in 1972 this dream became a reality when he purchased a farm and moved his family to Cheapside Road. He farmed there for 36 years. After he retired, he and his wife went to Cuba many times where they made many friends. Rest in Peace, dear John. You will never be forgotten. A family visitation and service was held at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church Jarvis. Donations to Sick Children's Hospital Toronto In Memory of grandson Jordan Runstedler are preferred to flowers.
