It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of June Townson on Dec 11, 2020 at the age of 91. She left peacefully from her home with her caregiver Wendy by her side. Beloved mother of Valerie Fess (Harold), Wendy Townson, and mother-in-law of Cheryl Townson. Predeceased by her husband Don and son Paul in 2005, and her sister Barbara Fallis in 2008. Cherished nanna of her grandchildren Ryan Fess (Denise), Dana Gowland (Chris), Erin Townson (Bobby), and Drew Townson. Proud great-nanna of Graydon and Hadley Sherk, Ethan and Colin Fess, and Nathan Townson. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. June led an active life with a busy social calendar of church, senior breakfasts, and day trips until a fall and hip replacement surgery sidelined her. However, her independence and strength survived to the end. She spent her final months being cared for at home which is what she always wanted, and she departed on her own terms and in her own way. Her amazing caregivers will forever have our gratitude for their compassion and care. To Jenna from CBI nursing, Mary from VON, and Debbie and Mel – we will forever be blessed that you were a part of her final months and you cannot be thanked enough for everything you did. A very special thank you is reserved for Cari Fallis and her husband Danny for being a bedrock of support and love. June may have left tiny footprints in the world but she will occupy a huge place in all of our hearts forevermore. At June's request, a graveside service will be held at Selkirk Union Cemetery, Selkirk on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 2 pm. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are welcome, but must RSVP through the funeral home website (www.cooperfuneralhome.ca). Masks are required during the service and while at the cemetery.
