Obituary for Martin Oliver Kloet

Peacefully, at Anson Place Care Centre, on Thursday, July 29, 2021 in his 86th year, Martin entered into Glory with the sure knowledge of eternal life. Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee DeVries), for 61 years. Loving father and friend of James, Owen Jeffrey (Jennifer) and Jeanne (Tim) Fisher. Proud Opa of Matthew Oliver (Saffron), Logan (Kaitlin), Samantha (Adam), Jacob Oliver, Andrew, James Martin, Joel, Eric Martin (Erin) and Trent (Kristen) and Great Opa of Mak Oliver, Sloan, Shae and Collins. Son of the late Jacobus and Petronella Kloet and brother of Anne (the late Fred) Schuringa, John (Claire; the late Trudy), the late Leni Blyleven, Adrian (Karen; the late Ann), the late Hans (Teena), the late Dick, Peter (Rita) and George (Ada). Son-in-law of the late Oeds and Sjoukje DeVries and brother-in-law of Jessie (the late George) Visser, the late Klaas (Ann) DeVries, the late Jacob (Carol; the late Barb), Berend (Ileen; the late Jane) DeVries, Tilly (Peter) Vandersar and Elly (Ken) Esson. Also loved by many nieces and nephews. Born in Zierikzee, The Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada with his family in 1953. Martin worked for the Norfolk Co-op for 45+ years. He was a long-time member of Simcoe CRC and a supporter of Christian schools. He was loved and respected by many. Friends are invited to call at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm (RSVP is not required. Masks and physical distancing are required at all times when on the funeral home property. All current COVID safety protocols will be followed.) A private funeral service for Martin will be held at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, 139 Talbot Street East, Jarvis on Wednesday, August 4 at 11 am. (The funeral will be livestreamed on the Ebenezer CRC YouTube channel for those who wish to join the family in this way.) Following the church service, the interment and committal service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 12 noon. (Those wishing to attend are welcome to park in the church parking lot and await the arrival of the funeral procession. Information for contact tracing will be collected.) If desired, donations to Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Anson Place Care Centre for their loving care for Martin.
