Peacefully with family at her side at the Hamilton General Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, January 30th, 2019. Ruth Smith (nee Kitchen), beloved wife for 66 years of Ken Smith, in her 86th year. Loving mother of Wayne and Nancy, the late Jack (2007) and the late Shirley (2016), Cheryl and Steve, Pat and Gary, Deborah and Kim and Doug. Grandmother of Lorrie Ann and Matt (Henry and Oliver), Dwayne, Andrea and Joe (Katie, Elizabeth and Joe), Jennifer, Jonathan, Matthew, Mallory, Mark, Amy (Spencer, Zachary and Cole), Sandra (Marley), Kyle and Nash (Avery), Dakota, Daniel and Kiara. Sister of Anne Butler (the late Paul), Linda Mills (Doug), Glen Kitchen and Barb Fearman (the late Jim) and sister in law of Sue Kitchen, Clifford Smith (Linda), Norma Ayott (Ray) and Liz Smith. Predeceased by her siblings: Alice (John), Ada (Ivan) and Jim, as well as her brother-in-law Earl. Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 65 Talbot Street East, Jarvis on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the Jarvis Lions Community Centre, 18 James Street, Jarvis immediately following the service. Ruth was involved in many community activities. She was a past president of the West Haldimand Hospital Auxiliary, was an ardent volunteer with the Auxiliary, a member of the St. Paul's Anglican Church Women, was a proud Jarvis Lions Club "Lions Lady" and loved her regular card club participation. If desired, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to COOPER FUNERAL HOME, Jarvis (519-587-4414).
