Obituary for Stanley William Burditt

BURDITT, Stanley William (Major)
March 21, 1926 – June 10, 2022
Surrounded by loved ones and holding the hand of Marjory, his wife and love of his life for
more than 75 years, Stan earned his well-deserved crown as he was Promoted to Glory in his
97th year and is now in his eternal home.
Stan was a quiet, kind and gentle soul, and was happiest enjoying the simple things in life,
particularly spending time with his family. Together with Marge he lovingly raised five children:
the late Stan (Aura), Gary (Donna), Rob (Glenda), Don (Gwen) and Nancy (Ken Kerr). He adored
and is cherished by his 15 grandchildren (and their respective spouses), 21 great grandchildren
and 1 great-great grandchild. Loving “father” of Stephanie Turner.
Stan’s family love him dearly and cherish their memories of him – whether they are memories
of letting the big one get away, learning and developing a love for making music, being cheered
on from the sidelines of the football field or hockey rink, the many large and rather raucous
family gatherings, or simply being in dad’s quiet presence. Most important to Stan was that his
family learn at an early age about the love and promises of his Lord and Saviour.
Stan touched many lives throughout his career as a Salvation Army officer and beyond, and his
desire to be like Jesus was evident in how he lived his life. Whether you knew him for a short
time or a long time, you saw how special a person Stan was and how he positively impacted so
many lives, many for eternity, just with his presence.
While we mourn the loss of Stan, we want to pause to remember the wonderful times we were
able to share with him. To properly celebrate and honour such a remarkable person and life,
the family would be honoured if you joined us to pay tribute to his legacy. A Celebration of Life
will take place on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 1:00pm at The Salvation Army London Citadel (555
Springbank Drive, London ON). The service will be livestreamed on The Salvation Army London
Citadel YouTube channel for those who cannot attend in person.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff in the Yellow Rose unit of Westmount Gardens
Long Term Care Home in London ON, for the kind and loving care they provided to Stan over
the past year.
Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London.  If desired, donations to Resounding Brass,
