Miller, Stuart Alexander.
Stuart Alexander Miller born September 18, 1926, passed away quietly in his sleep at the age of 94, on December 16, 2020. Pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Jesse (Killins), his three older brothers Cameron, Malcolm and Bruce and his former spouse Elizabeth. He is fondly remembered by his six children, Craig (Kathie), Frank (Sheila), David (Maureen), Anne (George), Allan, Paul (Allison), 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Stuart started his working life on the family farm in Nanticoke, Ontario before becoming an independent trucker and then working for Cities Heating in London. Ten years later he became the second youngest stationary engineer to achieve First Class Certification in Ontario which he earned while attending night school and helping raise six children. In this capacity he helped operate and manage the power plants for a number of manufacturers before retiring in 1987 as Maintenance Manager at Hiram Walker and Son Distillery in Windsor.
In retirement, he returned to his roots, buying a small farm near the community of Otterville. There he dedicated his time to his grandchildren, his woodlot, and raising Christmas trees. In addition, he was active with the Southern Ontario Nut Growers Association, helping them promote the maintenance of nut tree stands, and the Otterville Wood Carvers.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Glenniss Sturrock who helped care for him during his last six months and the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph.
