It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie Dawn Fess (nee Townson) announce her sudden passing at her home on April 13, 2023 in her 71st year. Beloved wife and best friend of almost 50 years to Harold. She will be forever missed by her children, Ryan (Denise), Dana (Chris) Gowland and Rob Williams. She was Mamma to her grandchildren; Tyler, Graydon (Summer), Hadley (Billy), Ethan, Colin and Kaysen. Predeceased by her parents Don and June Townson and Daughter-In-Law to Graydon and Laura Fess. Sister to Wendy and predeceased by her brothers Michael and Paul (Cheryl). In-law to †Doris (Bob) Jones, Doug (†Marion) Fess, Joyce (Pat) Neil, †Joan (†Steve) Abbott, and Donna Fess. She will be missed by her best friend and fur baby Ella.

She spent her summers at Hillside Lake Park and will be missed by her friends there. She was also the neighbourhood mom to the Selkirk Rugrats. She also proudly enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Society. Her greatest passions were cooking, reading and baseball at the Selkirk Ball Park.

Thank you to the Selkirk Fire Department, Haldimand EMS, and OPP for their wonderful care and compassion in our time of need. A gathering will be held at the Selkirk Christian Chapel, Selkirk on Wednesday, April 19 from 2-4pm. Donations to the local food bank would be appreciated by the family.
